Dr. Abimbola Oshin DVM MS MRCVS MBA CVPM DACVS DECVS
Dr. Abimbola Oshin obtained his veterinary degree from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria. He graduated at the top of his class with distinctions, prizes, and awards. He was in general practice in Nigeria for three years before returning to the University of Ibadan as a lecturer in veterinary surgery.
Dr. Abimbola Oshin moved to the United Kingdom after obtaining membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons by examination. He practiced as a relief (locum) veterinary surgeon in several small animal practices all over England before settling down, first in a general small animal practice and then in an emergency practice.
Craving a return to advanced training and practice as a surgeon, he accepted a junior clinical training scholar position in the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals of the Royal Veterinary College, University of London. By the end of this training period, he obtained the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduate Equivalency Certificate from the American Veterinary Medical Association, allowing him to practice his profession in the United States of America.
Dr. Abimbola Oshin relocated to the USA for a small animal rotating internship at the Long Island Veterinary Specialists in New York. He followed this with a small animal surgery residency at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, and Affiliated Veterinary Specialists in Brentwood, Tennessee. Following his residency, he obtained board certification with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and the European College of Veterinary Surgeons.
Dr. Abimbola Oshin has practiced as a small animal surgery specialist in private specialist practices in the United Kingdom and the United States of America. He started his own 24-hour Emergency and Specialists veterinary hospital in the United States in 2009. He obtained a master’s degree in Business Administration and a designation as a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager from the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association shortly thereafter.
Dr. Oshin has an interest in all aspects of small animal surgery. He also maintains an interest in emergency and critical care of small animal patients, and in veterinary practice management. He can be found practicing his interests and educating fellow veterinarians in these areas daily.
